Easter Break

4 day holiday + 1 (off on Tuesday) – hmm, plenty of time to chill and do nothing – and nothing was exactly what I did. I watched two old Filipino movies: Mano Po and Magkapatid. I have to say that the former has a more credible storyline although confusing at times on who is narrating in the film; the latter‘s storyline is unrealistic (kids went canoeing unattended; Sharon’s character is a doctor who cannot do proper CPR; Sharon’s help to sister is so over the top: pay for their house; give ATM card and withdraw amount needed, etc). The only good thing I got from Mano Po is the song Both Sides Now by Jon Mitchell.

We went to Rita’s on Saturday to return the DVD’s. We thought it would only be a 10 minute pit stop but we ended up having cups of green tea with Hopia Mongo and Ube flavoured Magnolia ice cream. We chatted and chatted and then had fish and chips and more cups of green tea. Great time with great company!

Easter Sunday I watched the Easter Mass in Rome and waited for the Pope’s Easter greeting in Filipino (Maligayang Pagkabuhay ng Ating Panginoon!!). Mommy Eve had dinner with us and then we watched the World Figure Skating Championship held in Goteborg, Sweden. For four hours we were treated to double axels, lutz, loops and quads – Dennis lost the will to live and went upstairs.

We also thought we will clear one side of the wardrobe full of photo slides. Oh dear – such a joy to find Dennis old photos when he was younger (and skinnier) and healthier. There are some photos that I think should be shared!!!

My Part of the Bargain

Giving up….

Sweating on the small stuff

TV viewathon

Talking too much (listen and not talk over each other)

Moaning, whinging and whining

Trying to….

Live simply and sustainably

Give generously

Follow Him closely

I am sure I am capable not to be too self –absorbed at least in the next 12 days. I start late but that is the beauty of God’s love – we know there is forgiveness and we can start either late or all over again.

Lost in Translation (or spelling!!!)

I send an email today to colleagues at work that I will take Tuesday, 25 March as holiday. In the email I write that I will be 'hovering' when I meant to say 'hoovering'...of course my Inbox is clogged with sarcastic remarks and this is one of the replies I receive

My house needs hoovering aswell if you have spare time, oh, hovering, darn it.

Haa, haa, haa, well at least I made everyone laugh on a v blustery Monday!!!
